Trot Set Timer is built by one person, so replies take a few days rather than a few minutes — but every message gets read.
Do the voice cues work with my phone locked?
Yes. Cues keep playing with the screen off and locked, and mix over your music or
podcast rather than stopping it — your audio ducks briefly for each cue and comes
straight back. The ring/silent switch doesn't mute the app, so you can leave your
phone on silent.
I can't hear the cues clearly.
Turn your media volume up — that's the one that matters. Where the phone sits makes a
real difference too: in a breast pocket or vest it points at you, while flat on a
surface it fires sideways. Every cue starts with a chime before the spoken words, so
if you're catching the chime but missing the words, you're hearing it correctly — the
chime carries the "something is changing now" and the voice carries the detail.
How do I rest mid-workout?
Tap Pause. The clock holds while you stand, and the paused time isn't counted as
ridden. Tap Resume and the app re-announces the current gait and what's left.
What if my phone rings, or the app closes mid-ride?
Your ride is still logged. Duration is saved as you go, so an interrupted session
shows up in History marked as stopped early, with the time you actually rode.
Where is my data stored? Is it backed up?
Everything stays on your device. It's included in your normal phone backups (such as
iCloud) if you have those turned on. See the
privacy policy for details.
Does the app get access to my photos?
No. When you add a photo to a horse, iOS hands the app only that one image; it never
has access to your library and never asks to browse it.
Which iPhones are supported?
iPhone models running iOS 16.4 or newer (roughly iPhone 8 / X and later).
How do I delete everything?
Deleting the app removes its on-device database and all of your workouts, horses,
and history.
